Note From Highground We hope that the artwork featured here helps to illustrate what we think is an important concept, that "graffiti" is the name of an artform, a style of art. Graffiti can be created in any medium an any surface, in two dimentions or three. "Graffiti" and "tagging" are not interchangeable terms. Modern Graffiti art, which began in New York is now all over the world and in our popular culture. Corporate marketing campaigns and pop music employ Graffiti art among other things to gain credibility with the youth. The fact that Graffiti art and Hip-Hop culture in general have survived this expansion into the mainstream is suprising to most. Graff is sort of incorruptible. It's okay to do a wildstyle McDonalds™ logo as long as its not weak and you get paid proper for your work. Graffiti has greatly advanced as an artform and this site is just one of thousands that here to give a more permanent home to artwork which by it's nature has a very short lifespan. We welcome all artists to send us samples of thier work to add to our collection and possibly publish on this site.
